Rental Rules & Policies
Please read all information carefully.
- Life Jackets & all required safety equipment are provided.
- Boat leaves full of Gas, you can return it as is without any additional refueling charges!
- No Fires, Fireworks, Firearms, Weapons, Smoking, or Heat Producing Cooking Equipment on Board.
- The rented boat shall not be used to carry passengers or property for hire.
- Driver of rented craft must have valid drivers license and/or boater safety certificate as required. You can visit https://www.michigan.gov/dnr/things-to-do/boating/safety-certificate for more information or https://www.boat-ed.com/michigan/ for an online boater safety certificate course.
- The rented boat shall not be used to carry passengers or property in excess of our allowed weight capacity. All participants to be seated inside the gated area at all times when engine is running
- The rented boat shall not be used to tow or propel any other boat, barge or thing.
- All Michigan and Federal boating laws must be followed at all times.
- Renter is not to use the boat (or motor) in any race or competition.
- No boating between dusk and dawn.
- Renter is not to operate boat (or motor) in a negligent manner.
- The rented boat shall not tow any tubes, skiers, knee-boarders or wake-boarders at any time. No jumping or diving into the water at any time
- Renter is not to operate rented boat outside of the Tahquamenon River between The Lower Falls Campground & Rivermouth Campground
- All children under the age of 13 must wear a life jacket at all times.
- Renter is not to permit the boat to be operated by any other persons.
- Rented boat must be docked or properly anchored at all times when not in use.
- Renter is not to remove the motor from the boat for any use whatsoever.
- When boating/docking in shallow waters make sure motor is at the proper depth with trim on shifter with the propeller in the water at all times as to not burn up the motor.
- The rented boat must be tied off or properly anchored when left unattended.
- When boating the rented boat must be 100ft from any other boat, dock, shoreline, or protected wildlife at all times.
- Leave no wake when approaching other vessels, kayak, canoes, docks, boats, campground, etc.
- All operators must attach engine cut off cord or lanyard while operating the boat.
This list can be amended at any point and Renter must complete a pre‑departure briefing/checklist with a Sonny’s crew member and sign acknowledging receipt of gear and instructions and waivers. Always pay attention to the weather conditions and operate in a safe, courteous manner.
